More recently , Strack , Inc . has acquired a subcontracting business to supplement its blasting work . “ We offer site work , boring , tunneling , and railroad work ,” summarizes Jonathan . “ In short , we lay any type of sewer , water , or storm drainpipe .
“ But it ’ s been a journey to get there : I started going out to job sites with my father when I was just two years old ,” he goes on . “ Naturally , I was destined to follow in his footsteps and enter the grand world of construction .”
Jonathan admits there was also certainly a kind of magical quality about possibly entering a family-owned and operated business . He was eager to learn from his father and join him in the trade .
After all , his father , Joe , had done the same with Jonathan ’ s grandfather . “ My father began working for the business when he was just ten years old ,” he reveals . “ I began at 12 . Every summer I would work alongside my father , slowly progressing up through the ranks .”

Initially , Jonathan started at Strack , Inc . as a laborer . For ten years he worked on site , learning about company processes from the bottom up . Then he assumed further responsibility , gaining new training as a pipe layer .
But , again , it wasn ’ t enough . Jonathan was focused on learning as much as he could , testing out each role within his family ’ s business . “ I qualified as a superintendent and , a few years later , began to oversee work as a project manager ,” he recalls .
