Construction Group engagement remains central to how the company operates. In 2016, TCG partnered with the Infinity Metis Corporation( IMC) to create Thompson Infinity LP – an Indigenous contracting company mandated to secure contracts within the Wood Buffalo Region of Alberta, in the oil and gas industry. As the economic development arm of the Fort McMurray Metis 1935, the IMC comprises active and knowledgeable representatives working and volunteering within the local Indigenous community. The partnership is built around long term economic participation, with a strong emphasis on Indigenous hiring, skills development, and local collaboration.
“ Strong projects are built on strong relationships,” Aaron elaborates.“ For us, meaningful Indigenous engagement isn’ t just an add-on, it’ s fundamental to delivering work responsibly.” By engaging early, listening closely, and maintaining transparency throughout the project life cycle, TCG aims to ensure its growth supports the communities in which it works.
Aaron continues:“ Thompson Infinity LP is a strong collaboration that we’ re proud of. Our partners and clients share that pride, and the feedback we’ ve received reinforces the value of working closely with the local community.”
Disciplined & deliberate
Safety is built into how TCG plans and delivers its work. As a member of the Alberta Safety Association, the company integrates safety expectations into leadership accountability, planning processes, and performance metrics.
“ We don’ t treat safety as a separate program. It’ s a monumental part of how our work gets completed.” As projects become more complex and scheduledriven, cost factors are still highly important, but safety discipline becomes even more important in managing risk, protecting quality, and maintaining cost and schedule certainty.
“ We have been able to work closely with our customers to ensure our safety programs are in line with their expectations. We can bridge that connection and make sure we’ re both on the same page by working through those fundamental processes and safety programs that we have in place. It allows for more oversight, more connection points, and a more competitive environment. Our approach is grounded in planning properly, engaging with our customers early on, setting expectations, and understanding where the priorities lay for a specific project.”
Looking ahead, TCG remains focused on growing in a disciplined and deliberate way – expanding its reach while staying aligned with the principles that have shaped its success. By replicating proven systems, investing in people, and building strong local partnerships, the company continues to deliver certainty in an increasingly complex construction environment.
“ Our goal is to grow without losing who we are,” Aaron concludes.“ We will continue to grow our brand and our accomplishments, with the aim of creating touch points for new customers, while maintaining the high standards, relationships, and accountability that we are known for. This will allow us to expand our presence in global markets, where our experience in delivery models will translate well.” ■
