In 1978, Paul F. Persons Sr. started Persons Services in Mobile, Alabama, with little more than $ 500, a strong work ethic, and a simple promise: to do quality work and take care of customers. Now, nearly 50 years later, that same entrepreneurial spirit is driving a company with more than 300 employees, $ 350 + million in expected 2026 revenue, and capabilities spanning construction, infrastructure, industrial mechanical services, and disaster response.
Today, four operating groups bring those capabilities together under one roof. From complex industrial and infrastructure projects to commercial construction and emergency response, Persons Services combines self-performance, companyowned equipment, fabrication, technology, and disciplined project management to tackle challenges others may not be equipped to handle.
“ Self-performance is one of the biggest differentiators in our business,” Buddy Persons, President of Persons Services, explains.“ There’ s a cost to doing it – you must recruit and retain skilled tradespeople, continually train them, own and maintain equipment, invest in supervision and project controls, and keep those resources productive. But when it is done correctly, the advantages to the customer are significant. We control more of the variables that determine whether a project succeeds: labor, productivity, quality, equipment, sequencing, and schedule. If conditions change in the field, we can move people, equipment and resources ourselves.
“ Similarly, our fabrication operation is an important part of our vertical integration strategy. Taking fabrication out of the field and moving it into a controlled environment gives us significant advantages in quality, productivity, safety, dimensional control, and schedule certainty. We can coordinate fabrication with BIM, detailing and project
sequencing, and perform more work before it reaches the jobsite, reducing field congestion and field labor hours. That becomes particularly valuable on industrial and mission-critical projects where tolerances, weld quality, documentation, and schedule are extremely important.”
By keeping critical capabilities in-house and integrating them into its project execution, Persons Services ensures consistent high standards, exceptional risk
