In 2018 , Derek Engineering Incorporated ( DEI ) established Derek Builders ( DB ) to facilitate its expansion into Arizona ’ s full-service , commercial general contractor sector . The move was instigated by Jeff Bateman , the organization ’ s Southwest Region President at the time , who went on to take the presidential role at DB .
DEI was originally founded in 1987 , in Louisville , Kentucky , by David Steinbrecher , Founder and CEO . His vision for the company , as a full-service general contractor specializing in commercial and industrial construction , was to provide top quality products and develop long-term relationships with his customers . The vast growth that the company has experienced over the years , as a consequence of repeat custom , is testament to the achievement of his ambition .
