“ We ’ ll be showing people how to operate different kinds of equipment ,” explains Jonathan . “ They ’ ll also learn how to learn new technologies , lay pipes , stay up to date on new methods , and work safely in multiple scenarios .
“ If you ’ re a laborer at Strack , Inc . then you ’ ll get to experience a ton of development opportunities . Right now , I ’ m set on ploughing profits into this program because I know we ’ ll get a really good return on it in the next ten years .”
Core values
Talking of the future , we ’ re keen to know whether , considering his position as CEO at a leading heavy civil and utility contractor , Jonathan has any industry insights to offer ?
“ We ’ re in a challenging economic environment ,” he says . “ There ’ s no getting around that . Construction and , to be honest , most other sectors are starting to see their slowdown ; it ’ s all predicated on a lending model . So , it ’ s going to take a while for things to reconcile . “ For us , as I ’ ve mentioned , we really want to hunker down to grow our workforce and train them to the highest standard . That will mean we ’ re ready for that next growth hurdle that will inevitably come at some point .
“ We will have a great future in this industry ,” he rounds out with , “ but to do that , we must also be culturally and ethically aligned as a business .
“ So , in the next three years in particular , a heavy focus will be placed on our core values , how we do things , and how we treat people .” ■
